Each year a portion of the proceeds from the Cactus Huggers Cycling Festival are allocated to purchase 200 new bicycle helmets for kids.  These helmets are given away during the first day of the festival by club volunteers who teach the kids' parents how to fit their child's helmet properly.  This is a good way for families of young children to  obtain the head protection for of all their kids from  toddlers to youth.  This project fulfills one of the missions of the Southwestern Utah Bicycle Touring Club to promote bicycle safety and education.
